6 people sought after west end shooting

A 20-year-old man is in hospital after being shot three times early Saturday on Eglinton Avenue West, in an area local people say has seen a lot of gang violence. 

A weekend shooting in the west end of Toronto has a neighbourhood on edge and afraid of more violence.

No arrests have been made in what police say was the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man early Saturday morning.

They say they're looking for the six people who surrounded the victim before he was shot. One of them pulled out a handgun and fired at him three times.

The victim is reported to be in critical but stable condition at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Delroy Johnson, whose music store is steps away from the shooting scene, says the bloodshed will continue if something isn't done about a gangs and guns problem in the neighbourhood.

“We want to fix it," Johnson said. "And we know it could be fixed, because everyone gets affected by it."

A neighbour of the victim interviewed by CBC News didn’t want his name used out of fear for his safety.

“I live downstairs, and it happened right here,” the man said. “It could have been anybody. This has been the fourth shooting, or something, around here.”

 

Male hospitalized after being shot in leg

One male is in hospital and a second male is in custody after a shooting near Finch Avenue West and Albion Road on Monday night.
Toronto police said a male victim, believed to be in his late teens, was shot in the leg on Orpington Crescent.
The victim was transported to hospital, where he was receiving treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital.
Police said a male was arrested.
Charges haven't been laid.

Man not co-operating after being shot in leg

An 18-year-old man is recovering after he was shot in the leg in Etobicoke late Wednesday night.
Toronto police said the shooting occurred on Windsor Road, near Dixon Road and Kipling Avenue, at about 11 p.m.
Police believe only one shot was fired at the victim, who was transported to a local hospital and treated for the gunshot wound.
The bullet went through the victim's leg.
After the shot was fired, the suspects fled in a black Nissan Maxima, police said. No one has been arrested.
Investigators are trying to figure out why the victim was shot and are looking into the possibility that he was targeted.
Their investigation is being hampered a bit, however, because the victim isn't co-operating with officers, police said


 

A violent long weekend in T.O.

Three men were shot and three others suffered stab wounds in violence overnight Sunday that marred the last long weekend of the summer.The two worst incidents — a triple shooting and a serious stabbing — happened in Scarborough not far from where a man was nearly assasinated by gunmen only 24 hours earlier.“This violence were mostly targetted, not random, so it’s important to keep that in perspective,” Toronto Police Const. Tony Vella said Monday. “This was not a typical night in the city.”
In the most brazen incident, Vella said gunfire erupted around 9:20 p.m. Sunday on Lawrence Ave. E., just west of Orton Park Rd., injuring three youths.
Workers at a nearby Domino’s Pizza called 911 after an 18-year-old man stumbled into the shop bleeding from his lower back.
Vella said two other men, 18 and 20, were found in the area with gunshot wounds to their legs.
It’s believed the trio were on a park bench when another group of youths approached and opened fire.
The gunmen ran off, disappearing behind a nearby building. No arrests were made.
Investigators will look into any possible connections to the brash shooting that occurred just before midnight Saturday at Markham and Ellesmere Rds., only a few blocks away.
A man was hit multiple times when two gunmen — one armed with a machine gun — riddled a car with bullets.
Barely a block southwest of the gas station where that gang-style shooting happened, a 25-year-old man was viciously stabbed in his neck, shoulder and chest shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday, on Wantanopa Cr.
He suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital where he underwent surgery.
A suspect was arrested soon after at a residence on Orton Park Rd. Brennan Kelly, 25, is charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder.
Earlier on Sunday, around 9 p.m., a 42-year-old man was stabbed at 1016 O’Connor Dr., a lowrise apartment building near St. Clair Ave. E. He’s expected to be okay.
A 30-year-old neighbour was arrested. He’s charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.
Around 11:35 p.m. Sunday, a man, 46, was hurt in a knifepoint robbery across the city in Etobicoke.
Three young thugs approached him at a TTC bus shelter, near Rathburn Rd. and The East Mall, and demanded his wallet, Vella explained. The man refused and was stabbed.
His injuries are not life-threatening. No arrests were made. 

4 people shot behind Scarborough plaza

Police continue to search for suspects after several people were shot behind a Scarborough plaza late Sunday.Four people were hit in the hail of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. at 3859 Lawrence Ave. E., near Scarborough Golf Club Road.

Three of the victims were shot in the leg and the fourth man, said to be about 18-years-old, was hit in the lower back. Witnesses reported seeing at least two men fleeing from the scene

 

 

Police investigate North York shooting

Police are searching for suspects after an unidentified male was shot near Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue this evening.
Police have not yet commented on the victim's condition, other than to say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
He was found inside Lawrence West Station, but police say he was not shot there. 

Morning shooting in Scarborough

Toronto Police are on the hunt for a gunman after a man was shot inside a Scarborough home Friday morning.
The victim — in his late 20s or early 30s — was shot just before 6:30 a.m. in a house on Cavalry Trail, near Morningside Ave. and Ellemere Rd. He was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital in serious condition.
It is believed the suspect, a while male, fled on foot. Police dogs are being used in the search for the man.
